That’s good news considering Fire Country has already lost Vince (Billy Burke) and Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila). Alejandro is simply being lent out to Sheriff Country, but he won’t be on the show as Manny—at least not just yet.
It turns out Alejandro is stepping into the role of director on the Fire Country spin-off. The official Fire Country Instagram shared the exciting news that Alejandro directed Season 1, Episode 2 of Sheriff Country.
“@kevinmalejandro is once again pulling up his director’s chair but this time it’s for #SheriffCountry 🎬 You don’t want to miss this one! #behindthescenes #tvshow #drama #director,” read the caption on the social media share.
Several photos featured in the Instagram post revealed that another Fire Country star is also in the Sheriff Country mix for the second episode.
Diane Farr is bringing Sharon to Sheriff Country, which isn’t a huge secret since the trailer showed Sharon and Mickey (Morena Baccarin) interacting.
In an interview with Good Day Sacramento, Alejandro spilled that he is also directing Episode 3 of Sheriff Country. The actor revealed he wasn’t pulling double duty, either, as Sheriff Country began filming earlier than Fire Country, allowing him to focus solely on his directing responsibilities.

Alejandro admitted to being a bit of a “madman” when he’s in the director’s chair, but he considers the fact that he is an actor his directing “superpower”. The Fire Country star also teased that more character crossovers are on the way between the two CBS shows.
Since the two shows live in the same universe, it makes sense for a character to switch between them, and Max Thieriot‘s Bode has already kicked off the crossovers by appearing in the Sheriff Country premiere.
While this was Alejandro’s first time directing on the new show, he’s an old pro, having previously directed episodes of Fire Country, Lucifer, and National Treasure: Edge of History, just to name a few.
